Miss Hawai'i Volunteer is a statewide, service-oriented scholarship program seeking to empower intelligent, talented, health-conscious young women through education and opportunities for public service and networking. We are part of the Miss Volunteer America scholarship program.
Miss Hawai'i Volunteer contestants will compete in the following phases of competition: private interview, fitness and wellness, evening gown, talent, and on-stage question.

MISS HAWAII VOLUNTEER
Makenna Kinsler
Scholarship. Education. Responsibility. Volunteerism. Empowerment.
Makenna Kinsler was born and raised in Hawaiʻi and is a graduate of La Pietra Hawaiʻi School for Girls. She is currently a student at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Global Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hawaiian Studies. Growing up in lush Mānoa Valley and dancing hula since the age of five, it became natural for her to grow a deep love for her surrounding environment and desire to perpetuate not only the land and wildlife, but the history and culture throughout all aspects of life.
Makenna’s platform “Hoʻonaʻauao ʻĀina - Natural Disaster and Sustainability Education Through a Hawaiian Lens,” aims to promote further knowledge on how we can be better prepared for disasters, live a more sustainable lifestyle, and promote Hawaiian culture to a national audience.
Following her year of service, Makenna intends to continue her education and go to graduate school for urban planning, as well as continuing to practice and compete in higher levels of hula. She plans to become an urban planner, creating communities that are sustainable, resilient, and rooted in Hawaiian values

MISS HAWAII TEEN VOLUNTEER
Emalia Pomaialoha Dalire
Emalia Pomaialoha Dalire was born and raised in her hometown of Kāne’ohe. She is currently an 18-year-old Senior at the University of Hawaii-West Oahu pursuing a degree in Business.
She graduated a year early from Damien Memorial School, and in December of that same year received two associate degrees from Windward Community College.
Emalia has been dancing hula since the age of 2 in family’s hālau, Keolalaulani Hālau ‘Olapa O Laka. She is the daughter of Miss Aloha Hula 1999, Kumu Hula Keolalaulani Dalire, and granddaughter of the first and only Miss Hula, Aloha Dalire. She is currently an assistant at a nonprofit organization called Laulani which seeks to inspire and teach children through cultural preservation to embrace their uniqueness and gain vital life lessons through Hawai’i’s culture and traditions.
Emalia’s S.E.R.V.E. initiative, “The K.E.Y. to Life: Keep Empowering Yourself,” encourages children to be the best version of themselves. She believes that if a child knows who they are and where they come from, they will have the confidence to attain anything they put their mind to.
